Moonshine Inc. ("Moonshine Inc", "we", "us") is committed to protecting the personal information entrusted to us. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we safeguard it, in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.
1. What we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect: contact details (name, email address, phone number, business name); information you provide through our website contact form; and, for clients, financial, payroll, banking and tax information required to deliver our services, which may include business numbers, employee information and Social Insurance Numbers. We do not sell personal information.
3. Consent
By providing personal information to us you consent to its collection, use and disclosure for the purposes described here. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting us at the address below. Marketing emails, if any, comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation and include an unsubscribe option.

We share personal information only as needed to deliver our services or as required by law. This may include cloud accounting, payroll, document-management and email providers (for example QuickBooks Online, Xero, payroll platforms and secure file-sharing tools), government agencies to whom filings are made, and your external accountant, lender or other advisors at your direction. Some service providers store data outside Canada, where it may be subject to foreign laws.
5. Safeguards
We protect personal information with physical, organizational and technological measures appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted transmission and storage, access controls, multi-factor authentication and confidentiality obligations for anyone who works with us.
6. Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected and to meet legal requirements. Books and records supporting tax filings are generally retained for a minimum of six years from the end of the relevant tax year, as required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
7. Your rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask that inaccuracies be corrected, or raise a concern about our handling of your information. We will respond within a reasonable time and, where applicable, within statutory deadlines. If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
